Hi!
im looking for some simple metal rythem, so i can pratice my right hand rythem.
i was thinking some simple rythem on the low E string, and no left hand motion.

Something like: Down, Down, up, Down. This was the only one i could thing of.

Help me out here, and come up with something more flashy..

I highly sugest learning some Lamb of God, As I Lay Dying, or Slayer riffs to work on metal rythm. If your having trouble with fast palm mutting and rythm in general, this will be equally tough and rewarding. I started off with metal rythm by jamming along to the newer As I Lay Dying cd since most of it is drop c power chord chugging mixed with a few notes so I learned a lot by ear. It was hard, but I was determined to be able to play like that. Now, my picking hand is a beast.

Also, sitting there chugging away with only your picking hand will get boring and make you lose intrest quickly; not to mention, you need to keep your hand syncronised just like with speedy licks.

I'm not sure at what level of playing you're at right now but you could check out my tutorial on metal rhythms. Some of the riffs are easy, others a little more challenging.

I would start with a metronome at around say 110 BPM, and just do alternate picking, straight 16th notes. When you get that up to about 120 BPM (for an extended period of time) start integrating some rests, triplets (the Iron Maiden gallop feel like the "Trooper"), and quadruplets and try changing between them a la trash metal. Make sure you can do the same thing with power chords and all that as that is essential in the thash genre as well.

I agree with him, learn them triplets! Gallop picking is an awsome metal technique to learn, especially if you get it over three strings.

I couldn't agree more :)
I'd say the albums Seasons in the Abyss and South of Heaven are both plentiful of cool songs that are easy to pick out by ear...or just chug along where you can as you pick it up. Plus, they exclusively use Eb tuning throughout, so it's easy to jam to them all without re-tuning.
