A lot of you know that. press a note at the first 5 frets and tap the note 12 frets higher. Easy.

But I saw Van Halen doing tones of notes (in harmonics) with only one note presses by the left hand and tapping different pa]laces of the neck. I Started to think: There are default divisions of the neck that can produce harmonics. If you pick a open string (0 fret) you can produce natural harmonics at 12, 7, 5 and 3. All different notes. So... my question is: If you pick the 5th fret, can we produce harmonics at 5+12=17, 5+7=12, 5+5=10, 5+3=8 ??

and if we just press the 6 fret?? 6+12=18, 6+7=13, 6+5=11, 6+3=9???

Is is a formulae for artificial harmonics???

yes you can do that
i was browsin the "tricks" or "hosts" portion of this
site..and i *think*...i came across one that broke
down the "what" and "why" of harmonics...
the mathematical/physical properties.."this and that"
of string lenghth..etc..etc...
(notice how i just kind of left it at that?)
heheh
(when all else fails...throw in some etc...etc..'s
or some of these "this" and "that"

i think if you do a google search
or just a search on this site...that you will find
the answer your looking for
but the basic answer is "yes"
:)

so i fret the 5th fret...and hold my pick with my thumb and middle finger and kind of let my index of my picking hand hang out there...lightly lay the index of picking hand over the 17th fret and pick at the same time...
