Just wondering what kind of Recording Software Players on this site are using. For instance what kind are you guys using to record you solos over the GT monthly backing tracks?
I have a GNX4 I just started to try and use the Pro Tracks plus 2 days ago to start mixing tracks and I cannot even get my computer to produce sound from the tutorial tracks. So just wondering if there is a more basic software setup out there. I hate spending good guitar playing time on trying to figure out overly complicated software.

I record, edit and mix everything in Cubase SX3. It's extermely flexible and very efficient on RAM etc - excellent for plug-ins and midi (eg DFHS). I also have Reaper as backup on another system - cost nothing to download and can do pretty much everything Cubase can do except it is a little heavier on the CPU - also, I don't think it is dsp compatable yet (could be wrong!).

I'm using Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 - it may be old but it does the job. Sonar is the newer version.

I have Sonar 5. I upgraded to Sonar 6 but havent installed it yet. I've been using the cakewalk products almost exclusively. I do want to try a Linux proggy called Ardour, free and looks very powerful

I use Cubase SX 3. You might want to check out a free recording software called Kristal. http://www.kreatives.org/kristal/

I like Sonar 5 Producer edition myself. Pretty straightforward and very powerful.
I am a constant evolving music machine. Oh Man, I just forgot what I was playing. Oh well, on to the next song.

I used to use Cool Edit Pro 2.0, then Sonar 4, but lately I've been using Cubase. It's a great program. With some nice VST's you can get great sounds from it.

I am on Logic Pro 7. Its a bear to learn but it has so much I will never need anything else but just standard upgrades.

I've been on Cubase since about 1993 when Opcode Vision went out of business.
It's an excellent program with a real steep learning curve if you want to fully appreciate it.

Avoid buying it from Canada at all costs though. I dealt with the current President of the company Ray Williams, about 15 years ago.
I basically received zero tech support, zero help and got treated like total dirt by none other than Ray himself.
His last words went something along the lines of "If you don't like it, take it back where you got it"
Then he hung up on me.
Even now there's nothing but complaints about tech support in Canada so I guess Ray is still at it.

I just bought a mic today and have been attempting to work with LUNA all day. I don't think I have the capacity to record mentally. Mehg I'll figure it out eventually I'm sure.

I use Sonar PE 6 when doing in depth multi-track recording, but when I just want to lay down a quick idea of something, I use Audacity. I do this so I can leave Sonar set up for use with my PreSonus Firebox, and Audacity with my laptop's internal soundcard. It just saves a lot of steps.

I use Reaper and fly by the seat of my pants. Seems to work for me at this point. I'm new to recording but it seems to have all the bells and whistles and it's free. I did pay/donate for mine to help the cause.

I started on version 4, and then got version 6 not too long ago. I've never used version 5. So far, the main difference that I see is just how it looks. I haven't really spent much time with the new version yet though, so I can't really say if it's any better or not.

My understanding the big advantage is Sonar 6 is a true 64 bit program. I'm not that computer savvy so I don't know what the benefit of this is but if you are not running a 64 bit computer it does you no good. My guitar teacher upgraded to it and upgraded his computer too to take advantage of the 64 bit capabilities.

Cubase LE. Very easy to use, just like a crazy easy to use for beginners 32 track recording studio on a disk! :D Its also got the sickest effects ever.
