I've been having this problem with my Jackson. All the strings are tuned up, locked up and the open chords sound great. Scales below the 12 fret are good but once i go above the 12 fret i run into some tone problems. i.e. on the B and E string holding the 5 and 7 fret respectivly, its right on. But when i go to the 16 and 18 fret same strings, they sound way off pitch.
E----7----
B----5---- sounds good

E----18--
B----16-- pitch is way off

What can i do to fix this and prevent this?

Take your guitar in to a tech and tell them that you need your intonation set.

I would explain how to set it to you but it takes a little while... Use the search function here on the site and search "intonation" you should come up with a bunch of info... But take it to a guitar tech and get a setup and you'll be fine.

Intonation is fairly easy to do your self, so I would just do it yourself. Google guitar set up and you'll find instructions. If you want your whole guitar setup, I reccomend taking it to a tech.
