I've been using Guitar Tracks version 2 for ages, and like it - I tried to upgrade to pro version, but known of my local outlets had it in stock and I couldn't order it.
I was wondering if anybody has the pro version and whether they think I should persevere in buying it ?

Hey there,

I used to use Guitar Tracks Pro.

I think it's a nice piece of software with 32 tracks if I remember correctly.

It's good for recording, good effects in there. Very simple to use too.

The only downfall would be is that it can only handle wavefiles. There is no midi.

It is similar to Cakewalk Sonar I'd say without midi  So you are restricted only to use audio wave files. I stopped using it cos of this, but for recording it is great and very easy to use interface. How it compares to Guitar Tracks I'm not sure, but if you are only interested in recording audio, I think it's a good buy.

If you're thinking about doing complete composition or recordings with drums etc., aybe Sonar would be better.

Hope I've helped

Cheers mate

Thanks maestro.
I get a bit lost with computers as I was introduced to them rather late - but I met a mate with an HND in Computer studies, so hopefully i'll learn a lot more.
I am trying to compose complete songs, so i'll certainly give sonar some carefull thought.........

Thanks Nick, we did download the ' reaper ' and tried recording with it - we seemed to have problems lining up the Tracks, but we were messin around with a drum machine at the same time - but I might try it again.

Check to see if the snap feature is on. If you are trying to just nudge a track a little you will want to take the snap off.
