I been playing guitar for almost 2 months now. I practice a solid hour (at the least) a day. (Only missed 2 days in that pierod). Well I been learning "Wish You Where Here" by Pink Floyd. I have got the simple version down (well as far as a guy playing 2 months can...lol). Well last night I found the solo begining of the song. At first it made no sence... seemed like it sounded nothing like the song I love. Well it was crazy. all of a sudden I looked at the screen and it made sence. For the first time I was able to literly see the music on the screen. I know most of yall been well past this point a long time ago, but I was so excited and literly was tripping out. I tried to tell my wife but she didnt see why I got excited about it. I know im rambling but i'm feal like I took a big step last night. So I was wondering what was some of yalls "big steps"?

first big step would have to be learing power chords. once you get those down, you can play just about every rock song...ever.

One of my biggest was learning my first riff, which was the intro to Sweet Dreams by Manson. I was so siked that I learned it cause at the time (and still it) one of my favorite songs. Then I learned the Star Spangled Banner and I couldn't put down the damn thing. :)

Like strat-man, my big moment involved chord changes. When I learned how to play, G, C, and D in any order without pauses, that was great.

Congrats on the breakthrough!
I think I got real excited when I thought I was playing something like lead after learning the typical box pattern pentatonic scale and playing it over a recording of a 2-3 chord progression on my tape player. I didn't know any licks, couldn't really bend much (started on acoustic anyways), and had no vibrato to speak of...I just kinda hovered around whatever notes felt good. But still, I was so excited I took the guitar and tape player into my mom's room and made her listen (I was about 14).

lol... I got so excited about the tabs. I will loose my mind when I hit some of those high points.

Way to go dude! I too tackled that song when I was first starting out! You're taking me back my man. Keep at it, with each breakthrough you'll get even more excited.
