I think I got real excited when I thought I was playing something like lead after learning the typical box pattern pentatonic scale and playing it over a recording of a 2-3 chord progression on my tape player. I didn't know any licks, couldn't really bend much (started on acoustic anyways), and had no vibrato to speak of...I just kinda hovered around whatever notes felt good. But still, I was so excited I took the guitar and tape player into my mom's room and made her listen (I was about 14).
