Guitar Playing Seniors
# 1
Alow me to chime in here.
It was 1977 and I was 9 years old.
my brother had just come home from the marines. He had a brand new 1977 1/2 Black chevy Z28, 350, four speed.
Loved the car.
Then Van Halen's "ain't talkin' 'bout love" came on the radio...
It was all over.
I was hooked!
Had to have the album. Had to know who this guy was who totally re-invented rock music.
To a kid from a musical family who was spoon fed all things great about music; from mozart to the Beatles, Miles Davis,Dylan, Zep, Robert Johnson, etc, My ears could not believe the sounds coming from that record!
When I later learned EVH was forced to learn piano from an early age(4) like myself, I knew I could do this. Ed's fiercly unique style of playing was the natural result of all those lessons applied laterally on a guitar neck... and It all made sense to me...Be your own person on your instrument!
Learn this early or all is for naught.
That's my 2 cents worth.
Welcome!
