yeah, I know it's not guitar related but hey... I was looking at my guitar as I typed this...

How do you assign system sounds to things like email in Entourage?
In OS9 I used to be able to record sounds, place them in the system folder, then assign rules in Entourage to play those sounds depending on what email I was getting. ie, "message from Jon", "guitar tricks user message" etc... or whatever sound I wanted when a particular email came in...

All I can do now is just assign the sound that came with Entourage for 'new mail'. Am I missing something?

Haha, most of us are windows users here.

You still have the book that came with it? Or you could try sending Mac a tech support e-mail or give em a call. MAbey their website has a forum as well.

I downloaded OSX offline so there wasn't any book. The help files don't go into detail and Apple tech support costs money.

Guess I'm headed off to the usenet newsgroups.

Well I know a GREAT website you can go to and ask this question and someone there will help you. I will post the website if that is okay with the mods/admins. I have always been a Windoze user so I cant help you either with your problem.

Go to http://www.techspot.com You will have to register as a member to post/ask a question. But the site is well worth it. It is the best computer forum I have found on the internet.

Oh yea, I forgot about that crap. I called a few months ago about my Ipod and they told me I had to pay like $50 to talk to someone cause the waranty expired. I called back and told them I bought it a month ago and then they helped me, jerks.

I think you do it form with in entourage by loading a custom sound set.
Try opening entourage and opening preferences from the file menu. I had to use entourage last year and I hated it. Im back on good old apple mail now which I love !!
My instructors page and www.studiotrax.net for all things recording.

Thanks doc, but I tried that. I dragged my old sound files into the sounds folder in microsoft office but they still aren't showing up in Entourage. Even tried mp3's, aiffs and wav files but nuthin.

You used to be able to drag sounds onto the System file in the system folder in OS9, but OSX is totally different. Even dropping em in the sounds folder inside the system folder doesn't work.

I have a solution, but it involves a 12-pack and a hammer.

A 12 pack would be great.. but the stupid Canadian law says I have to wait until 10a.m. tomorrow for the beer store to open before I can get hammered.
