I'm writing a tutorial on music styles and just got stumped on this...

Last century was called things like the Seventies, Eightees, Ninetees etc...
What the heck do you call this decade? The Tenties?

And if you're saying something similar to "Get into the 90's man"... how does that translate to now? "Get into the 10's man"?

I saw an article on this back in early 2000. There were a bunch of suggestions, such as 'the tennies,' and 'the double-Os.'

My favourite is 'the zeroes,' because it keeps the two-syllable thing going without sounding too horrible.

I can't wait until I'm old, so I can tell my grandkids about what it was like in the year "ought-seven."

I've always just heard it referred to as "the new millenium". Which I suppose will still be valid until 2010?

The Encyclopaedia of Music calls it "the noughties", which I use as well.
"It's all folk music... I ain't never heard no horse sing!"
- Attributed variously to Leadbelly and Louis Armstrong

If at first you don't succeed, you are obviously not Chuck Norris.

You could always go Old Skool and call it 'The Now'.

The Twenty 10's, Twenty 20's and so on seem to fit the bill.

I think I'll just try to avoid having to call it anything
