If you're a "Bassist should stick to the root note" kinda guitarist, you aren't going to be happy:

Khaler is once again making bass whammy bars!

Now somebody give me $300!

It seems Fender used to make a bass in the 60s called the fender Bass VI. It wwas a six-stringed bass with tremelo. Oh god, we're going to be surrounded by dive-bombing bassists! aaaaargh!
"Dozens of people spontaneously combust each year, it's just not that widely reported".

I'm just tickled to no end that for a meager $400 (parts, installation, set up), I won't have to bend my necks any more. Now if only I could save some friggin' money...

My Strat showed me how to do just that.

Judging by some of the things I've seen Les Claypool do with his, they keep pretty good tune (once it's set up). For instance: That "Chorus" effect on the bass durring the verse of Nature Boy (on Pork Soda): It's not an effect at all- he's playing the notes and keeping a steady vibrato going the whole verse.

What do you think about Les Claypool playing with Trey Anastia (phish) and Stewart Copeland (police)? Think it's gonna be cool, have you heard anything from them yet?

I saw their first public jam (while at a Primus concert). It basicly consisted of Stuart and Les grooving, and Trey masturbating. It definately was cool, but that said, the coolest part was when Ler walked back on stage; he had a swaggar in his step, a chip on his shoulder, and a bottle of beer in his hand. He took back his PRS from Trey (Les and Stuart were still jamming) then proceded to SMOKE Trey's behind. Beer bottle slide, shredding, you name it, he did it. At the end of the solo the lights went off, he spat a mouthful of beer into the air as the lights went off producing a stunning "fountain" effect, and Les Ler and Stuart finished "Harold of the Rocks," the tune Primus had started at the beginning of all that mayhem.

But since then they've practiced, wrote songs, and recorded. I have to say that structure helps Trey out a lot. You can download a full mp3 of "Mr. Oysterhead" off of http://www.oysterhead.com. It's a pretty cool tune, but I try not to listen to it every day, you'll see why.

I think I prefer "Oz Is Ever Floating"; the vocal on "Mr. Oysterhead" can get a bit grating after a while. I will be looking for this one when its released next week.

Thanks for the 'heads up'!

If I buy an album any time soon it'll probably be some Zappa, or maybe the new Scissorfight. I need boots first though.
