Montrose (Self Titled by Ronie Montrose w/ a very young Sammy Hagar on vocals) There is not a bad track on the entire CD.

Yeah, great Rock'n'Roll, but I don't feel 'invited in' the way I do with the stuff I listed. Montrose & Hagar fill the sound-stage, leaving precious little to the imagination, maybe protecting themselves from encroachemnt? The players I jam along with convey a sense of confidence that allows others to 'add in' without any consideration of who is out-shining who.
There is very little that I can identify with in Japanese culture, but the clips I have seen of their jam sessions demonstrate a degree of respect that I do not often feel here in North America.
But that's another issue...

I'm going to throw in a fourth one - Keb'Mo's self-titled album. Great, groovy delta blues that gives me a reason to use the Fender Tweed amp model on my pedal.
"It's all folk music... I ain't never heard no horse sing!"
- Attributed variously to Leadbelly and Louis Armstrong
If at first you don't succeed, you are obviously not Chuck Norris.

LOTS
I think I understand what you're saying w/ regard to the Montrose CD, However, I just play overtop and don't much worry about the overall effect on the actual songs because after all, It's just me and the git-fiddle.
