where do i go

hey is there any place on the internet i can go to learn how to play faster and cleaner????? :o

Wel, the only way to learn to play faster and cleaner is practicing. You can't really read something on the internet and suddenly go from doing a scale at 80 bpm to 220bpm. Sites like this glorious one will give you lessons on how to do certain things, but doing them fast and clean is solely on you.

Yeah, there's this amazing site called GuitarTricks that I hear really good things about, unfortunately I don't have a clue where it is.

Two things will get you faster and cleaner: dedication and time. There is no short cut.

I've never placed emphasis on speed in my guitar playing... it's just not what i desire... But I do think that playing fast makes you a better player when you're playing slow... so I went ahead and tried to get as fast as I could without taking away from my overall goal of just being a good all around guitarist....

Go to www.ultimate-guitar.com and look around for Steve Vai's 10 hour guitar workout... It's an amazing set of exercises that he put together for an issue of Guitar World.... Do those exercises as much as you can each day!! Get a metronome and start off slow enough where you can do the runs accurately and comfortably... then speed up concentrating on accuracy each time... And get built up as fast as you can while you still can do it accurately...

The biggest thing as mentioned... is dedication and practice. You have to practice that stuff religiously if you expect to see improvements... If you do it a few days a take a few days off you'll just lose what you gained... So make a few hours a day free to where you can do that stuff over and over... and i promise within a week or so you'll notice drastic changes in not only your speed and accuracy but you'll also get some reallly mean chops straight from the repetoire of Steve Vai.

To add on to aschleman, don't practice the same lick over and over and over again in a practice session, your fingers will lock up and it'll will only get slopier and you'll get frustrated. For instance, if your working on scales, take a crack at a few and play one a few times, then another, than another. Then go back to the first one you played and start over. Also, add on top of that any scales you already know to keep your fingers nice and loose and you'll have better practice sessions.

There is no magic formula for playing faster regardless of what you are promised by ads and guitar learning sites. The only way you will ever play fast is to play slow. Understand your fretboard and slowly pick up speed as experience lets you. That's it in a nutshell. Practice, practice practice, eventually you will get there, you can't stop the progress.
