To add on to aschleman, don't practice the same lick over and over and over again in a practice session, your fingers will lock up and it'll will only get slopier and you'll get frustrated. For instance, if your working on scales, take a crack at a few and play one a few times, then another, than another. Then go back to the first one you played and start over. Also, add on top of that any scales you already know to keep your fingers nice and loose and you'll have better practice sessions.
