Sorry jiujitsu_jesus, I had to go yesterday without commenting on your take. I did watch the video, good job man, I was impressed with how you can “rake” using the index finger on your picking hand.
You have some good ideas there, just try to control a little bit more your bends and perhaps bring the backing a little louder.
Cheers man!
Someday I`ll play like in my dreams.

Like Equator, I have revised my take, so mine now sounds a little less like the noodling that even Derek Bailey rejected.

Here she is - and cheers for the comments on the first one, Equator. Sorry about the loading time :o.>click<
"It's all folk music... I ain't never heard no horse sing!"
- Attributed variously to Leadbelly and Louis Armstrong

If at first you don't succeed, you are obviously not Chuck Norris.

This take was way much better than the previous, I could hear the backing fine and your bends are getting there.
I liked a lot the last part of the tapping, there was a change of scale going on. Good job.

thanks silent. I certainly appreciate the kind words. So far I like all the October jams. I must say that yours was quite tasty

These monthly "workshops" are a great excersise. And it's reall cool to hear how each person takes the same backing and adds their own soul.

Ok, I had to give this one a go myself. It's shakey in places, but overall I'm fairly pleased with it.

Obviously, I still had Silentmusic's intro bit in my head when I did mine

Also, all the lead was done with my Tele. And if you must know the full signal chain, here it goes.....

Tele --> Crybaby Wah ---> MXR 6-band EQ ---> MXR Wylde Overdrive ---> Carl Martin PlexiTone ---> PODxt (Marshall JTM45 model) ---> Behringer DEQ2496 ---> Yamaha MG 12/4 mixer w/ a PreSonus Comp16 compressor in the effects loop ---> PreSonus Firebox (soundcard) ---> Computer.

One part in there used the new Modern Hi-Gain model on the XT, and no PlexiTone. Everything else stayed the same.

Wow, Silent, I'm speechless. That is probably the best Solo Assignment I've heard since it started. I already know I'm votin for you.

Eric, I dunno if its my headphones, but your track sounds like the right speaker fades in and out every now and then. :(

Aardvark - cool, very original! Liked the double-stop based sliding stuff in the last section a lot.

Eric - Good job, man! Beautiful tone, and some really nice touches, like the harmonies at the beginning and the wah-ed up "D" section.

You making videos of your take is a very cool idea. How long have you been doing this.

Haha, I only do it on video because I don't have any proper audio recording equipment :o.

Hiya I'm back and here's my first go at this backing track, I expect I'll try again and do a longer take before this is over...I'm not used to using distortion lead any more :o

www.purevolume.com/julianvickers

Both Silentmusic and PRS's takes were sweet!
