Hi,

I live in a small condo and need to be considerate of the neighbors up, down, and near us. I'd like to pick up a good acoustic electric guitar and want a good amp - it doesn't have to be the loudest, just reasonablely priced, not huge - take up a lot of space and upset my mother, and good qualty. Any recommendations? Crate, Fender?

Ummm, well the Roland Micro cube has settings for acoustic, I've played an A/E through it, and it sounds fine. About $125 on musicians friend, pretty small. Less than a foot wide or tall, 8w, so if you play in a band, can still go pretty loud, and works well for electric too.

Fender has some good small A/E amps, but I dont really know.

I thought the Fender acoustasonic was pretty good. Some people don't like it but for an acoustic it's really goes great.

Hm... well considering the fact that you're worried about making noise... I wouldn't recommend an acoustic electric at all. Because by the time you turn the amp up so that you can hear it above the natural acoustics of the guitar it will probably be too loud to be acceptable... but whatever works for you I guess... That's my thoughts on it. I plug my Takamine into my 8W practice amp pretty often and I have to turn it up pretty loud so I can fully hear the sound of the effects I use... otherwise all I hear is a faint chorus underneath the loudness of my guitars natural tone.

People hate Fender because they don't make an overpriced, overweight, mostly poorly pieced together hunk of Mahogany and Maple........... aka... an LP

Just messin, to each his own... Normally Gibson people are Gibson people... and Fender people are Fender people... and there's no intermingling... It's been that way since the 50's
