[EDIT] Well techinally, the amp I have now would be used just as a source of power. Well, not just as a source of power. I mean, the actual speaker wouldn't be used.
Question about hooking up a talkbox.
I'm planning on buying a talkbox. I've heard that a talk box doesn't have its own power source, that the power comes from the amp. I don't have a separate amp head and speaker. My amp is a small all-in-one kind of thing. If I hook my guitar up to the amp through the input and hook the output up to the talk box, would that work? Or would I need to buy an amp head separately just as a source of power?

A talkbox is a small speaker in a sealed box with a tube that you put in your mouth. The box usually sits on the floor, with the tube held onto a mic stand. You use your mouth to 'shape' the sound, and a microphone takes that sound to the PA system.
So, you need:
- An amp to drive the talkbox speaker.
- A mic stand.
- A microphone.
- A PA system and cables.

I'm pretty sure you'll need a seperate amp. If I'm not mistaken, you are supposed to get the original sound of your guitar into that speaker box on the floor. I think there is an input from your main amp. The sound from it comes up through the tube, gets shaped by working your mouth, and then goes into a seperate mic. That microphone is hooked up to a PA rig.

Talk boxes are tricky things. You should do alot of research before buying one because hooking something up wrong when using a talkbox can cause alot of damage to your amplifier.
