No, I haven't suddenly transformed into a Black Label Society fan (sorry, BLS33 :o), but this is a really good clip of Zakk Wylde playing some electric blues. It feels different to his other stuff that I've heard - it's a Gary Moore meets John McLaughlin kind of thing. I think I'm going to pay a bit more attention to Zakk's playing now...
"It's all folk music... I ain't never heard no horse sing!"
- Attributed variously to Leadbelly and Louis Armstrong

If at first you don't succeed, you are obviously not Chuck Norris.

Zakk is actually an amazing country/acoustic player aswell. Even though such an icon, he is very underrated.

I started going the other way. I know the guy who went in to the studio to record some parts on 'Mafia' for Zakk. I don't know if it was just a time thing, but I don't like the idea of a 'guitar hero' using a session musician to re-record parts. Needless to say, his name didn't appear on the sleeve...

The guy can play, no doubt about that, but I'm no longer sure what percentage of Zakk's output is actually him. Perhaps I'm too cynical....

Check out some stuff form his "Book of Shadows" album.... I love his acoustic stuff... and his "Pride and Glory" project... it's a mixture of blue grass, southern rock, and metal... it's different but I like it a lot...

his acoustic version of Stillborn is killer too...

About the session guitarist that recorded stuff for zakk... He probably laid down a rythym track and his lead tracks... then hired a session guitarist to come in and layer the sound... Meaning the session gutiarist tried to play exactly what Zakk played on the rythym track... I can't imagine Zakk hiring anyone to come in and record a whole part for a song besides Nick Catanese... That dude is just as amazing as Zakk.... And the guys name probably didn't appear on the sleeve because he didn't get any writing credits for the song... he may have just played a few barre chords that Zakk wrote out and pre recorded... but didn't have time to go into the studio and record and layer himself... this type of stuff happens all the time with touring musicians....
