Hi! What do people here think about DRM audio?
I suppose it doesn't protect anything, all it does is render the track you just paid to download completely worthless because you cant put it on your MP3 player!!! :(
How do u hold down this problem? I've downloaded a converter to take DRM away... is it a right decision?
Thank u!

I think it's a logical solution to the music industries complaints about the inclined ability of people to steal copyrighted material... I think it gives individuals the ability to download and listen to songs without paying... while it also protects the material from being massly distributed and reused by writing it to cds and such. I download music... But I normally download versions of songs that aren't on the album... rare recordings and such. I normally go out and buy cds... I like having the actual cd with the actual art... On the other hand... I've spent countless amounts of money on cd's.... I currently have imesh and it allows me to download any song I want... however, they have DRM restrictions... I normally play all my music through my computer anyway... so it's not that bg of a deal to me... I have enough cds to keep me satisfied in the car. I think DRM is the best compromise that there is right now... it's better than having to buy all your downloads.

The record companies don't HAVE to do anything. They are under no obligation to make music more available, portable, distributable or whatever. Only if people stop buying it will anyone care.

If you want to bypass DRM, getting a convertor is the way forward. i only get angry that some new sony CDs won't play in my CD player at all - it doesn't recognise the discs. How the record companies choose to protect their material is their affair.

If I don't want to pay, I can avoid doing so on peer-to-peer / CDs from friends etc. If I do want to pay, I know what I am buying and I know it's limitations.
