Hendrix and Vaughn not vs.

im not tryin to sound like a scholar and im not gona say "i think". . . but from what ive gathered ive come to the conclusion that there is no conclusion to who is the better guitarist for various reasons mainly because of the "better" issue because better can be a very broad issue, If you want older more technical perfection and precission timing you probably like vaughn, had he eaten as much acid as hendrix he may have brought out the more inventive more creative style of music hendrix is famous for, not to say hendrix wasn't a musical genius and his type of creativity could be duplicated because it will probably never be and if it is it will never have the same kind of praise considering he was one of the first of his kind to be shown to the masses, i hope i havent taken a side on the issue because then i would be arguing and there should be no argument unless all factors-(the various reasons that contribute to this issue not being concluded) can be figured in and more than likely they can't, i could be wrong, but i also hope i kept a few more of the open-minded people who get caught in this from arguing too, and for those of you who "think" im a dip**** please dont respond to this because you could be keepin someone who has something intellectual to say from sayin it and for those of you who think what ive said make sense, right on man


oh yeah check out my good friend CLINT RIDDLE on myspace he has been a guitarist for about 2 or 3 years and has had his own style since he got his first guitar and has improved everytime gibson has given him another because he was endorsed by them at 16 which is cool but im not bragging im tryin to get his band noticed so he can move on from them because his talent and creativity is still evolving and there all stuck and try to keep him down with them because none of them will admit to being less talented than him because theyre all so much older and have played longer, PEACE

Creativity doesn't come from drugs.

im an example of the point you are making, someone may be extremely creative and never done any kind of drug, i understand, i was sayin HAD vaughn eaten as much acid it MAY have brought out that kind of creativity i did NOT say that the creative genius of hendrix came from acid..he was incredibly talented before he ever knew what acid was, i was making the POINT THAT YOU CANT ARGUE OVER WHOS BETTER NO MATTER WHAT and if you have a reason to argue that hendrix is "better" than vaughn or that vaughn is "better"( NOTICE the parenthises around the word BETTER) then you dont need to say anything because obviously you couldnt say anything that cant easily be explained.

i wish you even had anything to say to even argue cause i would love a specific arguement but you cant pick one sentence out of what i originally posted and do you know why? i bet you dont but ill tell you....i wrote that whoooole paragraph to make a point that was un-biased and probably influenced by my upbringing and my experiences but to take one excerpt from that and **** on it is beyond stupidity its called IGNORANCE and thats what you need to stray from cause i can tell you get stressed when someone has a different idea. the only reason ive spent so much time writing all this is because i wrote this with the intentions of YOUR stupid ass not sayin anything

Whoa dude... Pull back on the reins. Then take a grammar class and learn what punctuation marks are. There are such things as run-on sentences.

As for the point you were trying so desperately to make; It's a valid point, and one that has been made numerous times before on this forum. The reason no one is replying is probably because no one really cares. They've all read that... written by 20 other people. We're all humble people here at guitar tricks... or most of us anyway, and we're not going to sit and say "Stevie was soooo much better than Jimi." I say this all the time when people get into arguments about who is better, Stevie or Jimi.... It's all opinionated... but Stevie Ray Vaughan never would have never picked up a guitar if there were no Jimi Hendrix. Simple as that. What Jimi lacks in talent he made up for in imagination. They're both guitar Gods... and they both deserve to be revered as such. There is no "better"... only in the eye of the beholder... and then it's just a reflection of personal taste. Either way... just chill...

Jimi's fame didn't come from the fact that nobody could do what he had done . Many guitarist could duplicate and even extend his music style. I had a friend in college in the 70's that could copy hendrix note for note and to a layman ears you couldn't tell them apart. Jimi's fame came from his inovation. Nobody had done what he did with his guitar before him. He wasn't copying anyone even tho' his music is rooted in the blues.
