Last night I decided I should probably write a song so that Michael wouldn't have to write everything we play. I'm an idiot when it comes to standard tuning, so I was playing around with some different tunings, hoping to hear something neat and catch some inspiration. At the same time I was on messenger, talking to my cousin. When I explained I was trying to write a song but had a severe case of writer's block, she told me I should write a song called "Aunt Pauline has Boots of Fire."

She suggested numerous other hilarious titles for future songs, like "Futon Frenzy," and "Line Up, Line Up, the Russians are Happy," but when I went to bed, the Aunt Pauline one still stuck in my head. I wrote the music (in CGDGCD tuning) and about half of the words right before falling asleep. The other half I wrote just now. Enjoy, maybe. Maybe not.

Aunt Pauline has Boots of Fire

Aunt Pauline has boots of fire
and she cuts our skin with wire
Aunty hits us with a belt
and she leaves a big red welt
no one seems to notice it --
there's no one else here in the pit
Aunt Pauline has boots of fire
Aunt Pauline has boots of fire

Aunt Pauline has eyes of rage
like a lion in a cage
Aunt Pauline smokes cigarettes
and burns us with the glowing tips
we all shrink to her commands
but Aunty never stays her hand
Aunt Pauline has boots of fire
Aunt Pauline has boots of fire

Aunt Pauline is going far
in the back of a cop car
As I watch her drive away
I don't know just what to say
now who's gonna mind my health?
I'll have to do it all myself
Aunt Pauline has boots of fire
Aunt Pauline has boots of fire
Aunt Pauline has boots of fire
Aunt Pauline has boots of fire (just keep repeating)

Haha, that's the funniest shiz ever.
For life is quite absurd and death's the final word, You must always face the curtain with a bow
Forget about your sin - give the audience a grin
Enjoy it - it's your last chance anyhow.

I like everything except:

Aunt Pauline is going far
in the back of a cop car
As I watch her drive away
I don't know just what to say

:D

Well, I have all day of school with no real work to do, so I'll try and come up with something better.

Good work Brendon. Can't wait to play it tonight. You're so considerate!
You go outside and practice screaming. We'll play music while you're gone.

Haha, very good! You may very well be singing about this individual :D.
"It's all folk music... I ain't never heard no horse sing!"
- Attributed variously to Leadbelly and Louis Armstrong

If at first you don't succeed, you are obviously not Chuck Norris.

Oh I dunno, it just occurred to me that they were both very angry people named Pauline who ended up going to jail. Forgive me my random inanity. :o :o It was late at night when I posted this. I'm sorry.

Heaven's sake, Ben. Stop apologizing for everything. I thought the comparison was funny, and as you should all be aware of by now, I'm all that matters.

Ok, it's been several days now, and still no changes. I don't like that part much either, but I like the story the way it is. The only alternative ending I would be satisfied with would be Aunt Pauline dying of a heart attack or something. Hmmm. I'll keep at it, I guess.
