You guys have drawing competitions.

well, I don't wanna start about the competitions. I'm through with them that stuff's rigged.

alright here's what happened. there was this competition where we win $200 if we can portray domestic violence in our own image. i happen to have a camera so I'll take a pic of what i drew in a few minutes. anyway, i had to drive to a college and submit my entry, and i drove there, took me about 30 minutes, then i had to find parking which is hell, submit my entry, wait for the judges to get there, explain my piece, and then there was a guy who was not there so he had a drawing submitted by somebody else. his drawing looked like ****!!!!!!!!!!!!! omg it looked like it took him 20 seconds to draw it, it was on torn up paper, not very good craftmanship, and he wrote, not typed, but wrote his description. my drawing took me 3 days of hard work after school and in school to complete. it was completely in ink and brush, and it looked so much better. i didn't have a description for mine cause i was there live and if you come live you don't need a description. i was sure i would win, my competition wasn't that good (i'm not saying that to be cocky, i mean it) so they told us to leave and they went on talking amongst themselves about the pieces and they said they'll announce the winner at the awards. so i wait about an hour for the awards and when its finally time, they said i was second place, won nothing at all, and they said my drawing was literally neck and neck against the guy who took 20 seconds to draw his. WDF!

so yea.

to answer your question, no, my school doesn't have art competitons but its sponsors hold competitions and you can enter if you want. but we have projects and stuff and nobody wants their piece graded after mine.

Ok BAM! check it out:

the husband's about to hit his wife, who's holding a baby, with a beer bottle, the emo girl's slitting her wrist, the baby's crying because it spilled its drink and nobody's paying attention to it and its mother was screaming, the dog is starved, and as you can see on the right, the 'peace' poster was all torn up and re-taped, the shelf's broken and some books fell down, from an earlier scene where the husband banged his wife on the shelf. and to the left is a really good leather couch. also there's a phone on the ground, un-docked from the dock next to the entrance. the wife dropped it while trying to get help. but, as they all say, a picture's worth a thousand words so i'll let the picture tell the rest.

this was done in ink and brush.

I gotta admit, I wasn't expecting this when I proposed "learned discourse on many subjects" as part of the LATS 5k Day festivities.

I've got to hand it to you pure... you've definitely got some hand drawing skills. I used to draw by hand all the time, and was fairly decent, but after breaking my drawing hand a couple times, I haven't been able to get it back. Now, I just doodle to help get ideas out of my head, so I can get them on the computer easier.

There's this artist famous around here in jacksonville. I've talked to him twice he's a nice guy. he even told me to go by his shop and show him my art sometime. but the thing is that he was born with disabled hands. he paints with his mouth. so as long as your hand's not disabled, i'm pretty sure you can still draw with them.

This would imply that I still draw by hand  It's just not my preference, since it causes a good bit of pain after a short while.

That's what I'm trying to avoid, but I can tell already that it's pretty inevitable.

that has got to be a horrible, sinking feeling. do you wear a brace or anything to keep undue wrist movement/pressure to a minimum?

Here's my two public school art projects I was actually proud of:

In 6th grade

Oh yeah, and I put my daily change in a fairly crappy pottery bowl I made. They wouldn't let us make anything resembling an ashtray.

wow Akira that's amazing at age 7. I can hardly believe you did that at that young age. I was reading a book a long time ago called "drawing on the right side of the brain" the best art instruction book i have ever read, i recommend it to anybody. somewhere in there it was talking about the development's of childrens' brains and perception, and it said at around age 12, artists start to develop the geometrical perception and stuff and start to draw humans in correct form, and objects in the correct size compared to another. at age 7 thats impressive.
