G&L are great guitars....I believe that Leo Fender had a part in starting G&L. (that's where the L comes from in G&L (Leo).

Anyway, yeah, they are quality instruments...

They take the "classic" designs of the Fenders, such as the Strat and Tele body, but are claimed to have better quality parts, wood, electronics, tuners...everything. I have had the chance to play a few and I was impressed and discouraged.

Pros - they are good quality, well built. The trems stay in good tune after some mild abuse.
- hot pickups are comparable to lower output humbuckers

Cons - the high output singles make ALOT of noise under certain lighting

The fact that there is alot of noise is really my only complaint. Because of this I would recommend NOT buying them. Unless you are going to change out those pickups for some hot noiseless or some single-sized-humbuckers.

The name of the guitars are Guitars by Leo. The '&' is simply a musical symbol thrown in the middle. For the longest time I thought the company was G AND L... but not so. Yeah, they're guitars made by Leo Fender. The founderof the Fender company... obviously. Since he sold his company to CBS sometime in the late 60's he had been making instruments like these. Now they're mass produced. High quality instruments. If you want a Fender with the quality of a 50's or 60's Strat or Tele... heres where to look for much less than the Fender brand.

Didn't Leo Fender also have part in starting up the Music Man company?

I believe that the "G" in G&L stands for George Fullerton; the one-time partner of Leo Fender.
Yes.......Leo Fender did start Musicman.

Gl guitars are awesome (yes, its not "and"). As stated, the compant was started by Leo Fender and George Fullerton shortly after Leo recovered after selling Fender to Cbs because of health worries.

I like them lots...check out the Comanche for a really different pickup setup, but ohh so nice...The Asat is nice too

and for anyone with monatary constraints, Gl also make the Tribute series, which I fiound every bit as sweet as an American Fender...(atleast the strat styled Tributes are as nice as Us Strats...not sure about the rest)

you are saying a fender as in a FENDER, or Fender as in SQUIER?
How much of a diff. is between the plan Gl to the tribute Gl, besides the money?
