Ha, calling everyone an idiot- that'll get me rep! :D

Naw, just give me a hoot if you want to be one of "Eric's People". Truthfully, I don't see why you would.

hey, at least your supermarket gives you an employee discount. I don't even get an employee discount.

we have "club cards" like what ponyone described. and we can get fired for letting a customer use our cards. we technically can't even let a customer use another customer's club card (though we let that one slip a lot more when it's obvious that the two people are relatives or friends)

it doesn't really matter though. our club cards are tied to your phone number, so you just punch in your phone number on the little machine where you swipe your credit card and it's the same as having the card. and even if you don't have that, you can just ask for an application for a club card. we can give you the card right away to use immidiately, and you can just take the application home saying you'll "bring it back later" and just never fill it out. of course, then your phone number won't be linked to it, and if you do lose it, then you won't have the benefit of typing in the phone number.

anyway, enough ranting from me. I'm sorry to hear that you were fired. but there are so many better jobs out there then working at a grocery store. just about everything except fast food is better...

You go outside and practice screaming. We'll play music while you're gone.

I get 2 weeks of paid vacation, full benefits, 401k, paid holidays, as well as all sorts of free lunches on my birthday or if we met a certain goal or something. And did I mention people bring food in a lot for, say, holidays and what not, and when it's all said and done I tend to be the first to get the left overs.

oh yeah, after being there for a year we get 1 week of paid vacation, and after being there for a while longer you get 2 weeks, and the managers and people who have been there for an EXTREMELY long time get 3 weeks. we have benefits and all that too, but I don't really car becaue I'm under 18 so I'm still under my parent's coverage. we get paid holidays too, and we only work on holidays voluntarily (though I found out the hard way that I'm under some new bs contract when I worked on christmas day and only recieved $1 per hour extra, instead of the triple time that my manager told me I would get.)

oh yeah, tomorrow is my last day at that job too. I'm quitting. I got a job at... a different grocery store! this one hopefully willing to give me a better schedule, plus an extra $.25 per hour more!

thanks guys

Actually working at Woolworths was actually pretty good, compared to most supermarkets.

you got 3 weeks payed vacation, $13.00/hr (that's NZ dollars), all in all it was a really good student job.

$13 per hour? how do NZ dollars compare to US dollars in terms of value? and what were you doing specifically in the store? like checking, bagging, produce, etc.

I was just at the checkout doing scanning and bagging.
Just checked the exchange rates online:

NZ$1.00 = US$0.614602

So NZ$13.00/hr is roughly US$8.00/hr

oh... well in that case... *blows rasberry with tongue* $8 an hour? I make that by just being a bagger, and some checkers make more than twice as much as me.

Yeah, I want to sacrifice my education and put the fact that I was suspended on college applications so I can hang out with my friend that got suspended.

You'd better believe it, man! Seriously, that kind of logic is quite popular at my school  .
