Directly? Indirectly? These are just words, almost interchangeable here. Like I mentioned above: public education and health care, two of our nations most troubled issues are directly affected by illegals and their lack of monetary contribution to those systems through what...taxes. And yes, 90% of us here were immigrants and one point in our history, but we did it legally. That's the difference.

They may be words but they are important. Here's an interesting idea. The children born to these illegal immigrants are legal citizens. Sooner or later they will be old enough to pay taxes themselves and have the opportunity to pay back the healthcare and education systems. There are countries who pay for thier entire populations healthcare. We can't do that because we pour so much money into other things like wars. I can't help but fixate on the horrible irony. A nation founded and built by immigrants trying to keep immigrants out. I don't think we should be concentrating on stopping immigration because like trying to stamp out drugs it'll never happen. What we should do is set up a program to help these immigrants a fair shot at citizenship and equal rights as such. I don't think they should be given special treatment or anything like that. They shouldn't recieve government benifits or anything like that. However, they are all just trying to find a better life for their families. I think they should at least have a chance at finding it. Trying to hold them back is just going to make things worse.

I have no problem with people trying to have a better life, but the law is there for a reason, and whether we agree with it or not we have to follow it and I respect those that go through all the legalities to become a citizen, legally. I am also 99.5 percent sure my families taxes weren't lowered. But there is a .5 percent chance I am wrong so I am not 100 percent sure.

Well actually, we cant totally blame the illegal aliens. The root of this probolem goes into Mexico. President Fox need to take some more initiative into making more jobs and opportunites. Its really the government of Mexico and the un-opportunites people have.

I don't think anyone has a problem here with immigrants...only ILLEGAL immigrants. I realize that much of our population in the US is former immigrants but they came here legally. Like i said before, theres plenty of people from all over the world who come here legally every day, including Mexicans. But its not fair for there to be ones that are crossing the borders illegally. And i dont believe its a job issue. The people that hire illegal immigrants are just fueling the fire. The US has gone through crappy times in history but you didnt see Americans running for Canada or Mexico. If you can't come here legally, dont come. From what i hear, getting a green card is not that difficult. I can't help but feel that they are taking advantage of our proximity. And im not even gona get started on those stupid ass high school students that are "protesting" in the streets. Theyre walking around waving Mexican flags...anyone else see the irony in that? ok, so i did get started....sorry

I've got the solution! why dont we just turn mexico and the usa into one BIG Super country! No illegal immigration!....well, wait....lets go to CANADA! :D

And exactly what will that solve? Then we've got a bunch of people who cant contribute to a system that theyl be benefiting from and a bunch of people of French decent.....and you know what that gets us.
