Most people are either a Gibson or a Fender fan. Others just are indepent. Which one do you go for? Im a Gibson because I can't stand single coils personally.

Gibsons are over-priced and these days dont make even nearly as good as guitars as they did 30 years ago.

You spend 600$ for the guitar, and 1000$ for the Gibson name...

I really really really like fender, but Gibson guitars are just so out of reach for most people (ME!) They are completely just dreams at most of the prices, and that just makes me love them even more.

Exactly

Years ago, the only two decent guitars to choose from were Fender and Gibson and thats what made them legends. But now, they only make money on a legacy, not extremly top of the line guitars.

Well, yes of course the high prices are a turn off, but I would not be buying one because of that, and I think that it makes them more desireable, but in reality not better in any way. If that makes any sense

I chose other. If I HAD to choose between the two, I would choose Gibson. Simply because I like the feel and sound of a meatier guitar. But, I will have a telecaster before a LP.

Actually, I prefer a Stratocaster over a Les Paul.

So fender has my vote. :(

Ya, Gibson is winning. I like Gibsons not because of the price but because of the tone and the looks. I like the shape of the body and it feels more like a GUITAR rather than a guitar if you no what i mean

I actually prefer Fenders. I find them easier to play, and I also like the look of a lot of them (like Jaguars and Jazzmasters). Gibsons probably do sound a little better, but if they're not fun to play, why bother?

I'm a Fender fan. My dream guitar is a Fender Tornado (with a single-coil thrown in at the middle). I do like the look of the Gibson Nighthawk, though, and apparently the X-Plorer is a great rock guitar.

I'd love to get a Fender, but I always smash my knuckles on those stupid volume knobs. Like... move the volume knobs back behind the bridge, give me a guitar with 24 frets, and I'll buy one. Otherwise it's useless

I have the same problem with strats. I HATE the knob placement. I alway's end up turning the volume down or up when I don't want to. My hands also feel cramped on their tiny little necks. I'm also not crazy about 25.5" scale necks. Apart from all that though, I do love the tones you can get out of them. I prefer a meatier/beefier guitar, feel and tonewise, for my needs.
