I have a tough time with fingering with riffs and other single note not near each other. Ex: If a note is on the 1st string 3rd fret and the next note is on the 10th
fret and then goes to the 7th fret and back to the 10th all on the first string or any other string I always seem to use the wrong fingers to get from note to note. Are there any tips about fingering?? Or any sites that might help?I just play for my own amusement but it's still frustrating for me.
Thanks for any help you can provide

Thanks Akira

I have no idea what you are trying to play exactly but here's some help (maybe)
say you are trying to play this:

---3------10-------7----------
------------------------------
------------------------------
------------------------------
------------------------------
------------------------------

you could play the same thing it like this

------------------------------
-----------15----12-----------
----12------------------------
------------------------------
------------------------------
------------------------------

dunno if that helped.... hope it did!

Ok, if you're in the first fret, for example, and fretting with your index finger, when you go up to the 10th fret you might wanna use your pinky to minimize the distance your hand has to move. Unless you have to bend or something, then I'd use my ring finger. I don't like having to bend with my pinky.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't explain myself properly. It's not that I'm trying to play any particular song but when I play riffs or scales and such I have trouble knowing which finger on my fret hand [unless its obvious] where to place it. I'm talking about jumping from say a riff 4 3 2 1 on the high E string then to the 9th fret B or G string 9 7 11 13 then to the then back to the E string with a different set of notes. Just an example. I just thought there might be a tip about this.Setting yourself up for the next set of notes
Hope you understand
Thanks.

I think arranging the notes in a different fingering can help. If you use your pinky, longer stretches are easier. try to stay in one position.
