ahh! that's better! I vote for backing track number 1. I think that with number 2, the only solo that would sound good would be some blazing fast sweeping.. and I'm not too good with sweeping.

I've got it downloaded and ready for me to record a solo over it. I'll mess around a little tonight and tomorrow and see what I can come up with. you should all get to work on your solos too!

when we are done, we should all send the links to a specified person, who will take them all, start a new thread with a poll. post links to all the solos, and the poll should allow people to vote for the best. anyone wanna volunteer for this job?

hey can you tell me what key you are in on backing track number one, or what chords and/or notes you used? I tried figuring it out by ear, but decided it'd be so much easier just to ask you.

isn't recognizing music by ear part of being a good guitarist?

not necessarily.. I mean, it's a useful thing to be able to do. but it doesn't really make you a better guitarist.

I can figure out simple things by ear if I have enough time to spend working on it. I suppose I could have figured it out by now.. but I'm being really lazy today for some reason..

I think pure is right on this one actually. Just go along the low E until you find a tonic and then try a scale you know.

alright, I'll give it a try in a bit, but, did you have your opening chord use the tonic?

my (very) rough guess, was you used at least C, B, and A powerchords.. possibly C#, I wasn't really trying very hard to figure it out then though. a C major scale seemed to fit OK, but not perfectly.

I say we go with backing track number 1, posted by magicninja. for some reason, his first link didn't work for me (and apparently a few other people too) the second link (soundclick) worked. and I now have it downloaded and ready to go. I'd work on my solo right now, but I have to leave in a few. but I'll try to work on it later, like in 2-3 hours.

last night, I tried recording some stuff.. and just came to the realization that it all sounds like crap with my current recording set up.. so.. I don't think I'll be able to make some decent recording until I drop several hundred dollars into recording gear.. several hundred dollars that I don't have.

I can make anything sound good with anything. Yes..even with a kleenexx box guitar. And yes, I did purposely spell kleenex like kleenex.

OK, bring on the  's.

I want in, but I don't have any mic at all OR an adaptor to plug in to the line out, or is it in (I'm not even sure what line out, or in, or whatever, is, but I only have the adaptor for 1/8" to 1/4"). Oh yeah, and I suck too.
You go outside and practice screaming. We'll play music while you're gone.
