Line 6 thru DSL
Ok, brand new member here so patience if you will. After years of soul searching (and a couple of pretty decent year end bonuses) I finally have my dream guitar (Les Paul) and dream amp (Marshall DSL/ 1960 Vintage A). I now have my spider II 210 sitting in the corner. Is there any way to utilize the bountiful effects in my Spider thru the Marshall? Could I take the earphone line out jack and go to the input of my DSL? Dumb question? Probably. But need help. Thanks

You might blow the input. If the DSL has an effects loop you are better off putting the spider in that.

What modelling amps like your Spider II are trying to sound like is a raging tube amp, with studio effects applied to the sound picked up by a microphone placed in front of the speaker.
As magicninja says, about the only safe way to introduce those effects would be from the preamp of the Spider into an Effects Input of an effects loop, or to the amp input.
You can't connect the Spider speaker output to anything but a speaker, unless you have an attenuator of some kind to reduce the signal level to something that your new amp can handle. And even then, you would be putting at least some of those effects into the wrong part of the signal chain.

Your best bet would be to buy the individual effects pedals. They'll be more versatile, and sound a lot better.
BTW, if you have your dream guitar and amp, why mask the tone with effects? Just messin' with ya bud ;) I know some people are effects junkies just like some are amp junkies. We're all in search for "that" tone, and whether you need to use effects to get you there or not is up to you. Personally, the only effects I use are wah, chorus, delay, and reverb, but all are used very sparingly.

Thanks for all the replies. Probably best not to mess with it.
PRS, you're right to gig me though...truth is I could play all day long through the clean channel on my DSL and not get tired of the tone. But every once in a while...you know what I mean. I will probably just pick up a wah for now and see how that goes. Thanks again.
