ok i dont really know how to say this so bear with me. ya know when you just start finger picking while your still fingering the chords, if thats not clear sorry but on to my question, Is there a certain pattern to the strings you finger pick?

Yep, there are sometimes patterns that go along with certain songs, but this can vary immensely depending on the song and chord shape. Yet there are general principles that you can follow. Like a typical country/folk strum hits the root bass string, the remaining treble strings, then the bass 5th, then back to the remaining treble...alternating back and forth.

The thumb plays the bass strings, strings 4,5,6. Your index plays the 3rd, your middle plays the 2nd, and your ring plays the 1st. Thats the basic way. But as Rustee said, it changes with different songs/genres.

ya like he said, the pattern changes song to song, and since i play classical and electric(odd huh?lol) i learned different patterns so your thumb on bass strings, middle on third and index and ring on 1, 2 strings...or is that what you just said...?owell if it is im sorry
