Pretty simple, how old is everybody here? How long have you been playing guitar? What else is in your life for you besides a guitar?

I am 16 years old and have been playing for around 2 years or so. Obviosuly i goto school so I gatta worry about that a little bit and my parents are bitches. I am pretty much on probation for my grades at school so I have nothing else to do but sit around playing guitar and surfing the net. Thats how I found this place...I am curious to see the average age and guitar playing years of everybody else here.

Im 17, i've been playing for roughly 6.5 years. though for about a year i took a leave of absence and didnt play but maybe once a month, personal reasons.

I love movies, making them when possible. Hanging with friends, etc. My grades are ok, i have a 3.0 at a private school.

I'm 18 and have been playing for about three years. I am at university now, and whenever I am not working or going out I am playing guitar. I have decided that girls are too distracting for my guitar playing, and so I am planning to swear off them soon. Hehehe, or not. Maybe I should give up study instead, that would save some time....

I'm 48; I've been playing for 33 years; and I'm re-discovering the joy. :D I spend a half-hour a week trading licks with an instructor who is half my age, and has twice my technical skill.

Its a weird experience to hear the stuff I was learning to play from the radio, as I was growing up, being described in such a reverential way.

Speaking of radio... yes, most of the stuff on the air these days blows. And that includes the 'Classic Rock' stations too. How many times can you hear 'Walk This Way' before you wanna climb the nearest tower?

:D Get out and catch some live music. :D The good stuff is out there, where the 'Music Biz' A&R types fear to go.

I've been playing bass for 7 (or was it 8?) years. Guitar for one less. I'm 21, workin' for a living, trying to pay some dues. I too despise the radio and have a theory that most program directors have distinct ideas about what music people like, and they're DEAD WRONG. Anyway, back to making some flyers.

Hey guys, I'm twenty something, and ive been playing guitar for as long as I can remember, but I would have to say that I started on panio before I even touched a guitar. And I'm greatful for the knowledge that I recieved, because it has really helped me excell much faster on guitar in becoming more confident over the past few years.

With playing music, well my goals would have to be to always try new things, and never lose that original fire that has been burning inside of me from day one. The thing with the guitar is that you're never finished learning, there are endless possibilities. I think this is one of the reasons I was attracted to this instrument in the first place, that and Jimmy Page...

Hi.

I am 17 years old, I started taking lessons 5 years ago but quit lessons 4 years ago(felt I didn't learn anything) and bought a Eletric guitar and started with learning metallica songs. And I have learned much more over this laste year than the 4 years I took lessons.

I am going to school, dificult to teach something beacuse I can't whait to get home and play some guitar. (think I play 2 hours a day)

I'm 40 years old and playing guitar for 20 years.
The last years I play in a band therefore children and work (irregular times)made that impossible.
Now Í'm learning much and play about 2-3 hours aday.
Besides guitarplaying I like fishing and running.

Let me dust myself off ..... I'm 46, been playing 27 years. Married, without children. Mostly into blues and classic rock. My band is me (lead), rhythym guitar/lead singer, drums, bass/lead singer and 2 chick singers who add various percussion effects (working on one lady to play keys and her violin). The 4 musicians have been together for years; added the babes about 18 mos ago and reinvigorated ourselves. We now jam/gig more than we ever did.
The only shredding I do is the cheese and lettuce for tacos.

I'm thirty something. I've been playing guitar for over fifthteen years. I've played in two touring bands, playing four to six nights a week for three years, then got off the road for a while working as a hired gun, writing for other bands and laying down tracks for area studio's. I now am a guest guitarist for a few local blues bands on the weekends, and work with younger musicians just getting started. I have also played bass professionally for a few years, touring and recording for local bands. I have played everthing from metallica to hot tuna and enjoyed every minute. I'm now seeking to form my own group and hit the road locally and put out a few CD's. I still play on the average of three to six hours a day. Be thankful for the gift of music it can bless you with a truly unique life experience.(share it with your kids.)

I just turned 22 in march and I'm still staying alive in school. I'm in university and major in biochemistry.(believe it or not, I like the stuff I'm doing, science  )
I learned my first three chords G,C and D when I was thirteen and then I stopped playing all together for about five years. I picked up the guitar again when I was a senior in high school and it's been a blast and my passion ever since. I just started taking guitar lessons from this month and am enjoying every minute of the session.

I'm 47 and have been playing for about 37 years . I have a rock band playing chick cover tune club gigs , and a side band doing mostly original material. I'm really into atmospheric improvised soloing , and tone , tone , and tone . I have 2 strats , both refitted with Duncan rails in the bridge position thru a Fender Super . Effects are reduced to a ts9 tube screamer and a Morley wah , although I think I have at least one of every pedal ever made . Happy playing to all .
