I use a PODxt bean for recording, and in the effects loop of my amps for effects only. The best way to use if with an amp (if you want the xt to be your main tone) is to plug your guitar into the XT, then the XT's output into the effects return of your amp. Be sure you set the XT's output to the right setting, i.e. studio direct, front 2x12 combo, front 4x12 stack, 2x12 w/ power amp, 4x12 w/ power amp... or something along those lines. To get there push the tuner button and then use the knob just to the left of the screan to scroll to the output options. Generaly, when playing it through an amp, it sounds best if you don't use a cab sim, but sometimes it can add a little something nice to the tone. Best thing to do is to tweak with your ears and not your eyes.
