What is a tone pedal that no blues guitar player should be without?

Or better still, a Tube Screamer that's been modded. I just got my TS7 back from Analog Man. http://www.analogman.com The TS7 is the "Tone-Lok" version, where the control knobs push in out of the way, so you can't knock your settings around. It also has a "TS9/Hot" selector.
I think the TS9 setting will always be hot enough for me. That puppy rocks, even more so now that Analog Mike and crew brought it up to TS808 specs.
Hoo yeah!

The TS7 and my later TS9 were eBay deals. You might find one that's already been modded, or get a kit to do it yourself, if you're into soldering, etc. The best bet, though, is always a real rebuild by Analog Man, Keeley, or anyone who's gotten good reviews for such work.

TS808 (Holy Grail of pedals) TubeScreamer... some people like to use two, one for the lows and one for the highs... Also, a Dunlop Jimi Hendrix Wah. And if you want to include the entire spectrum... A Fender Strat with vintage series single coils... and a tube amp... fender or marshall. Thats the most popular and stereotypical blues set-up that you will find.

Klon Centaur (high price, and you have to wait forever, but well worth it..be prepared to spend over $400.00)
Voodo Labs Sparkle Drive (very cool pedal)
Morley diamond distortion (out of production, but you can find 'em on ebay)
Boss od-1 (a standard)
Tube Screamer (I find it lacking in the lows, but you can re-eq for that)
Route 66 american overdrive (very cool)
TRex Mudhoney OD (expensive, but very cool)
Fulltone (anything they make is KILLER)

actually, one of my favorite od pedals is "FrontLine Series II Overdrive". It was made in England in the 80's, I got it for 20 bucks at a pawn shop, never seen or heard of them before or since, didn't listen to it before I got it,(but for 20 bucks who cares, y'know?) and was pleasantly suprised with the natural response of the unit.

I recommend going AGAINST the mainstream, as everybody and there mom has a tube screamer. But if you want to sound like everybody else, I guess a ts808 is the way to go.
To many good choices....go to a shop and use your ears! Happy hunting! I love getting new od pedals!

I forgot one very important pedal!

Radial ToneBone Classic!
one of the very best ever, and reasonable at a little less than $200.00
