i heard the Roland Cube's are meant to be quite good, no idea on a price, but may be worth saving for if its a little out of your price band :)

I have a roland micro cube that I bought for 125 dollars new. It's bad ass for such a little practice amp. Several different amp models for anything from clean to pure distortion. Also has quite a few effects on it as well. It has a line out so you can record to your pc with it or use headphones. It runs on six AA batteries or the included ac adapter. I like mine alot and would replace it if it were stolen.
I am a constant evolving music machine. Oh Man, I just forgot what I was playing. Oh well, on to the next song.

I'm probably going to get a line 6 spider II tomorrow (unless I find a better amp at the shop, which I doubt since the shop I'm going to only has line 6 and crate amps, and from what I've heard, crates suck), I'll let you know how it is, the 15 watt version can be had for $160, which is roughly 80 pounds, (give or take, I'm not really sure how to convert currencys, I just know that dollars-pounds is almost a 2:1 ratio)
If you like cars see mine here
