I use a DiMarzio Tone Zone (DP156) at the bridge, and a PAF Pro (DP151) at the neck of one of my Yamaha SBG1000 guitars. It's a double-cutaway Les Paul style, like the old Ibanez Artist series. These are very versatile pickups, with a modern bite to them. They would work very well for heavy rock and metal.

I'm sorry, I don't have enough experience with single-coil pickups to recommend a good replacement for you. You could e-mail DiMarzio and ask them.

First off, wellcome to GT. I'm Kenyan, so I guess you and I are a lot closer than the majority of boys and girls on this site, who are American or Canadian.

About pickups, my feeling is that you shouldn't change them just coz it can be done, or just coz a lot of the more advanced players have a lot of customization on their guitars. You should only change them because you have genuine reason to feel that your present setup is inadequate for what you want to do with it. By then, you'll know better about what you want to change, and even then you can ask for and get constructive advice. Someone like this Lordathestrings guy you see here knows quite a bit about gear, but if you were to simply tell him, "Oh Gear Guru, I wanna change my pickups" , he wouldn't know where to start with you.

And finally, it's a good thing someone from UAE is here.
How are guitar prices in Dubai. A lot of people get things cheap in Dubai, and someone I know goes there regularly. Now, if you could give me advice about the quality available, places to check and so on, maybe i could get me a half decent acoustic from there. You kinda check something out for me, and if it appears I may like it, and the price isn't too bad, then i send my guy.
What do you think?

Hi nioio, i'm iranian. Anyway welcome to the boards. As for changing pickups, you have to try them before you buy them, it's hard to explain how different pickups sound in writing.

I had a Shadow piezo pickup installed under the bridge saddle of my old Daijon 12-string acoustic, and the result was very pleasing. I have no experience with their other products, though.

I had an Ibanez GIO GAX70 that I put some seymour duncans in and it was pretty bad, as in good. I put a pearly gates in the bridge and a '59 in the neck. SWEET! But then I bought a Jackson and got rid of the ibanez shortly after 'cause I was never playin it.
I am a constant evolving music machine. Oh Man, I just forgot what I was playing. Oh well, on to the next song.
