I hooked my GNX4 into my effects loop on my B-52 AT100 and thought it didn't sound quite right. So I contacted the folks at Digitech and found out. When running the GNX4 in the effects loop, turn the amp modeling in the presets you use to DIRECT, and run it as you would a regular processor. This cleared up my sound quality issue.

If you run it in the loop (amps fx send to GNX4's input and GNX4's output to amps fx return) just for effects and plug your guitar into your amps input, then you need to bypass all amp and cabinet modeling. If you want to use it like you would hooked to a computer using the amp modeling, then you will need to plug your guitar into the GNX4's input and run it's output to the real amps effects return, and bypass any cabinet modeling (since you're already going through a real cabinet).

What if you plugged your guitar into the GNX4 the plugged the GNX4 into your amps instrument plugin istead of the effects return. I do this sometimes and it sounds alright. By the way, hope you guys are alright PRS. Let us know how bad the storm gets for you. God bless!

If you do that, then just make sure you have a clean sound to start with on your amp and set the tone controlls flat. Running it in the Effects loop like I stated bypasses your amps preamp, so you get the true sound of the GNX.

Guys, Go to the Sound Comminity at Digitech, now it's called the Guitarworkstation/forum ( must have just changed over..I like the new phpbb) and read about the MFX Super Series. I did, I have them, and my GNX4 is a tone animal. Plexi is so real !! Soldano.. Dead on..Artist presets (162) like Vito Bratta? (never heard of him but I like the Marshall amp in there) Sambora, 3DD ( Diablo amp model??) Rory Gallagher, Traverse, M Friedman, Mustaine, Crossfade ( new band I love the rect sound) and my fav's, cause I'm a young guy, but old school.. EC Crossroads, Jeff Beck, Elliot Easton, Iommi which nails the Warpigs and Paranoid guitar tone!! Im' just getting started! My GF is ticked cause I cancelled plans this weekend to go through this stuff!! A GNX4 Dream!!! Worth every cent!! My other guitarist has a VettaHD and even he is impressed with GNX4 Ultimate!! He pays like 50 bucks for 20 or so patches from Line 6 for his POD as well. He saw this and did not know what to say!! I told him it took the Guy like 6 months to put this together and even my hardcore Line 6 friend cannot say anything bad about it. Every sound is better than before!!! ok..now back to playing !!

Can't find the MFX stuff. Can you post a link for it? Maybe digitech is just working on their site 'cause I can't navigate most of it.

Okay, here's the link. Digitech Sound Community has a new Forum that's Phpbb. www.guitarworkstation.com/forum

Mfx Modeling for Super Series is at this link:

I just was playing this Kendrick patch for bluesy stuff. Its so cool how he has this clean sound that when it's played a little harder with the pick, it responds with this mild distortion. Very subtle but clear as a bell ! This stuff is so cool !!

The MFX site says it's for GNX 2 & 3. You're using it on your GNX4 though right?

YES, It's for the GNX4, started for the GNX4 I'm told. then he added the GNX2 and GNX3 on that page. Disc 1 Clean amps; Disc 2, Classic Rock, Blues; Disc 3 Hard Rock Metal. Then there's the Ultimate package which is all of the discs on one disc. I thought it was 3 discs but it's only one. I got the Ultimate cause if you read on there is 2 years of updates plus sign in area for Ultimate users website. Here he's putting on tutorials, video tutorials, live sound and amp usage techniques and more. That site is supposed to launch Oct 7. I see what you mean, It doesn't specify the GNX model until you get to the order screen. I emailed him and he said he'll update the site.
