Just got a new book from Amazon.com called
HOW TO MAKE YOUR GUITAR PLAY GREAT by Dan ErlewineCovers what to look for when bying a guitar and how to do great setups on all makes of guitar.
Lots of pictures of how to do all the things you think three times about, then take it to the shop. :eek:

Dan Erlewine is the man when it comes to guitar repair, set-up, and building! Any book by him is a great addition to your book collection and will teach you a lot. I personally have the Guitar Players Repair Guide by him and I find myself using it over and over again even though I've read it cover to cover 3 or 4 times. You can also check out his DVD's and articles that he's written for www.stew-mac.com He use to own and operate the Guitar Hospital just up the road from me in Michigan (4 hours away). Now he's a head consulatant at stew-mac. Good purchase!!! and good luck trying all his tricks out!
