I need to make a pedal board and was wondering if anyone here has designed one before. I dont need it to be powered. Here is a list of my effects:

Rocktron Zombie
Roctron Austin Gold
Mutron Micro V
Boss CH1

Any ideas would be appreciated, Im not the handiest when it comes to building things......

Thanks in advance. :)

I too was thinking about building my own pedal board, but I think I decided that it would probably be cheaper to get one from here: http://www.rondomusic.net/pedalcases.html but if you really want to build one, I guess it would be best to take a sheet of some semi-thick plywood, like 1/2" or something. (you could probably just get away with only buying a half sheet of plywood to save money) then cut a square/rectangle to your desired specification, then cut another small piece and nail it to the back so that the board is at a slight angle. then attach some kind of velcro-able material. (I would attach with some kind of glue, don't ask me what kind, but something that will hold very well, possibly even caulk) then hopefully, when you're done, it'll look something like this pedalboard http://www.tonebone.com/tbone-boneyard.htm and viola, I suppose you're done... you may want to spray paint it to your desired color before attaching the velcro-able surface.

I made one a little while back, and it maybe cost me $10. I just used a 3/4" piece of plywood that I had that was cut to roughly 12" x 24". I painted it black, added tome metal feet on the bottom to raise it off the ground about a half inch and put some drawer handels in each side. Threw on some industrial strength velcro and I was done. I'm about to outgrow it though, so I'm thinking about something like what was in the first link 6strngs showed. I'll try to remember to take some pics of my board when I get home, but you can kindof get an idea what it looks like in this pic >here<

I actually decided to build a board. Right now I just need a small one, but soon with a delay, wah and tuner in the near future I will need a bigger one so...

I built 2 of them one is 24" x 6" with a 2" incline Small Board

The larger board is 24" x 18" with a 2" incline, I may cut this one down to 24" x 12" we will see

They are both very basic but heavy duty, the only really cool feature is I drilled out holes for the cords so it doesnt look like a nest of baby snakes.

Good job man. I noticed you have my favorite pedal... the CH-1. I just love that pedal to bits. Don't know what I'd do without it. Do you run it infront of your amp, or in the fx loop? I find it sounds better infront of an amp rather than in the loop. Kind of has a deeper, flangier type sound in the loop.

This is the first time that I havent used a rack in about 11 years. But just as before that I always run the effects before the amp, never like the effects loop. I have a Fender Vibrolux now for my main amp and it just loves to have effects pushing it, sounds great!! The CH-1 is definetly PHAT :)

and I think I just decided on which pedal I'm going to get next... lol. well, I was probably going to get the ch-1 anyways, but now apparently since it's such a great pedal, it's moved up in line on the priority list

Talk about a cool pedal, about four years ago a bass player left the Mutron in my studio and never came back for it, I found it this year when I started playing again and didnt even know what it was. I about poop'd my pants when I plugged it in. Its the coolest auto wah / filter, it sounds like a cross between a Peter Framptom talk box sound and a Jimi Hendrix wah sound, you can set it to the intensity to your playing so it can really seem like an actual wah but much sweeter. I looked on Ebay and much to my surprise these things are going for 135 - 150.

Check one out if you get a chance,

:D

Speaking of an effects loop, I'm wondering if anyone has heard of, or possibly done, what I did. Instead of using it as an actual loop, I split the signal coming from my guitar, then sent one into my amp, and one to a distortion pedal, then into the effects return. now when I hit the effects button on my footswitch, it switches completely to the distortion pedal, instead of going through the preamp first. Any and all comments (and suggestions) welcome! I'm really curious to know what some of you geniuses think :D

P.S. I have a CE-2. I don't think they make it anymore, though. I'm pretty sure the CH-1 has completely replaced it. I'm not positive though. It's probably about 20 yrs old now, but works perfectly well. I got it from my dad :p

is it really? Why? Well, other than the fact that it sounds good. How do you guys set your choruses? I put the rate all the way down and the depth all the way up. It makes it a little more transparent than most choruses, but it adds a certain depth to the sound that I just can't get anywhere else.
