As some of you may already know, I'm kinda an astronomy nerd. But meteor showers are by far my favorite thing (regarding astronomy). So I thought I'd give ya'll the heads up for this weeks' shower. The predicted peak (for North America) is during the daytime friday :( but many should still be seen starting now until a day or two after Friday night. This shower is one of the best, with bright trails that sometimes glow for a few seconds after whizzing by. About 6 years ago I counted 50+ meteors in about 2 hours of watching.

Ya'll Brits get the peak at night, after the moon sets, so assuming there's no clouds the best chance of seeing the most. However, I like this shower not even because you see so many, but the ones that do show are often dramatically bright and glowing.

I see you already got your answer...but that's just funny that a Canadian is asking a Texan about aurora. :D
I'd figure you'd recognise it, even though I realise your in southern Canada,
but still.

Agreed..Many types of Northern Lights.

Never seen a green cloud type except in The Ten Commandments

The first one I remember seeing was in Bramalea, Ont. laying on the hood of my car, partly cloudy and above us it was crossing the sky in fast waves. Seen the colour curtain type many times. Sky's gotta be ripe...Best time I find is in mid to late fall.
Is this a Fabreze Moment? C.Y.D. 2¢

I watched during my cig breaks last night for a total of about 20 mins, and I
saw 3 dim ones, and 1 bright one. But I was looking right over a streetlight
and the town I live in has it's own share of light pollution. Anybody else see
any? It will still be "peaking" tonight as well.

Came across this video of a fireball. It also has some info about the current shower.

Calgary usually has clear skies for more than 250 days of the year. So of course we've been smothered in rain-clouds all week, with no end in sight. (Pun intended). :p
