I love dream theater, but i can't seem to find any other bands like them... help please.
And let's not turn this into a bash dream theater thread. :D

They would be my suggestion as well.

I would say their musicianship isn't quite up to the level of DT, but I like their songwriting a lot better.

Check out X-Japan's Art of Life... It's very long (about thirty minutes) but very impressive. It doesn't really appeal to me that much, but neither does Dream Theater (Well not yet anyway)... Still check it out, I'm sure you'll like it.

John Petrucci is one of favorite guitarists and i heard that the guitarists from symphony x makes petrucci look l ike cobain ,is that true? Ive never heard symphony x but petrucci is amazing.

I like Symphony X a lot more than I do DT, but I wouldn't say anything even close to that.

Michael Romeo probably isn't quite the technical monster Petrucci is, but I like his writing and prasing a lot better. If you like DT, you really should check out Symphony X -- you may not end up liking them as much as DT, but I'm 99% certain that you will like them.
