That, my friend, is why I have about 30 guitar picks laying around.
That, and my dog likes to eat them. I swear she's the infamous pick monster that takes everyones picks.

Sometimes I hit notes only dogs can hear.

i have approx. 10 picks right now. i couldn't dream of having less than 5, they're like toothpicks, use and throw away (actually i propably use the same toothpick more times than i use the same pick nowadays) :o

im always low on picks. I go to the shops and buy about 6, come home to find ive already lost 2 and then i gradually lose the rest within 4 days or so. Thats the cycle of my pics. Pain in the arse i tell ya.

I carry an Altoids tin full of picks, different thicknesses, fingerpicks, etc, metal, plastic, and keep it in my back pocket like a snuff can. Probably 60-70 picks.
Yep, got set up at a homeless shelter once, sweating like a stuck pig, grabbed my guitar (I was lead guitarist for a fairly new band and I was new to lead guitar) and forgot my picks! I had to go all the way home to get some and since then I've never been without. I have picks on a keychain, picks in each gig bag, each guitar case, I have picks in my pockets, picks in my billfold, picks in my ashtray/changetray of every vehicle, and usually chew on a pick just so that I don't ever leave home without them.

I buy em by the dozens. One time I found a catalogue that sold em by the gross (144) for I don't remember...25-30 bucks, something like that. That batch lasted me for a good 5 years. But I still have one out of the very first handpicked batch I ever bought about 13 years ago. I don't use it anymore, it's just become a memento of the beginnings hanging on the wall above my amp.

I bought one of those pickholder thingies and stuck it to the back of my amp. They hold quite a few, so I'm never without when I play out, and I never use them except for playing out. But at home...heaven help my wife. She finds them EVERYWHERE and half the time even I can't remember how they got there. She has a little container she puts them in when she finds them and it's right next to my amp. They start out there, but you know how it goes...the vicious circle.

well, I just placed an order on musicians friend for a bunch of stuff, and since shipping is free for orders over $99 (special anniversary thing, usually it's $200) and I was spending over $700, I decided to throw in all the small things, so, I'm getting 3 full sets of strings at $3.89 each. and 1 dozen fender guitar picks for $2.99... and that wasn't even the cheapest picks on there... I could've gotten the musicians friend picks at .99 a dozen. but, I don't know why i chose the fender picks, just the cool color I guess (blue). but I do have that problem of losing picks alot too... I think I am going to get one of those pick pockets (catchy name, I know) and stick it on my amp... or better yet, on the back of my headstock... lol (I'm kidding, I wouldn't do that)

Here I thought I was the only one that used an altoids tin. What flavor do you use? I've got spearmint.

I, like everyone else, seem to burn through picks really fast too. I got one I keep in my wallet just in case though. I bought my first guitar when I was 16 off a kid from school. He through in a ton (like 50) of these pink picks that I always keep in my gig bag. 8 years later I maybe have 5 left. It's a sad, sad world.
