if you play too fast, it becomes jumbled... it no longer is music, just noise...

now that that's out of the way.. I'd love to hear 19 notes per second... lol

I agree with you dude...You have to maintain your speed at a level thats fast but still listenable and sound good or else it will sound like a piece of trash. the guitar masters know it but very few realize it.

I learned from it ,when Im just beggining to shred, speed is all that matters to me, I always wanna be the fastest in our class, I even attempted to cover Mr Cucumbers song by Marcus Paus 2 years ago..check this out http://s47.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2MCEG4TNIIK0R17WXELA7XJG2I ...But soon I realized that every time I play extremely fast, It always sound Crap. even though you have the tightest picking technique. It will just sound noise.

lol, when i said i could hit 19 notes per sec, it didnt mean i liked to play that way, sometimes you've gotta sacrafice pure show off speed for music. If i record a solo and 19 nps fits in perfect, then ill use it but i doubt i would ever go that fast in any song that i write, i just learned to go that fast so i had the option, and the "headroom" so that when i played a little slower it felt easy in comparison:) and i reckon there are a few guitarists on this forum that could hit the magic 21nps(ive never seen that number beaten btu i think it will soon be)
