Blue House
This song is still in the works, and at this stage is only 3 nights worth of recording. I was planning on throwing a little more lead to it, maybe a clean outro (?), and of course a final mixdown to polish it up some more, but wanted to get some feedback at this point.

I'm really diggin' it! Has a nice catchy groove to it. Mucho potential there. Only thing I can comment about is the tone is a little muddy. Other than that, great job.

That's true Texas mud for ya dude! So one could say you're diggin in the mud?:cool:

Naw, but really I'm just recording straight into my 8-track using my Digitech RP-100. Considering that I'm satisfied with the tone for now. My focus is going to be on spicing up the drums and making up an ending. Oh yeah, and eventually borrowing a bass(ist) to throw a backbone to it all. Glad you liked it.

Ok, I've updated the song with the new outro I just threw together today. I'm liking it...anybody else? Or at least tell me it sucks, whatever.

I'm afraid I don't know what part you mean there...regardless it's staying. As far as the ending, I can't see me rehashing the same distorted riff(s) another time around (especially without vocals). I've grown to love that outro more than the rest of the song now, and have just been looping it to listen to. I don't know why, but somber, sad, melancholy trippy music just gets to me the most.

Just listened to all your tracks and I gotta say, "Cool!"
Very nice indeed, especially the classical guitar and screamin' lead! Great stuff.

Ok, now I've done just a little tweaking and added some modest drumrolls. I'm thinking I might add some feedback drones/wails in the background of certain parts?? Thanks ya'll for the input and praise.

Just use same link above, cuz I don't feel like reposting it.

I really like this track, it has a nice groove to it. Also has shades of a Satriani influence, which is a good thing. I like the fact that it's not all lead, gives the riffs a chance to shine through. I would like to see a nice lead section though, just before it goes clean, and yes, the clean out-tro works. Nice work, post back when you finish it off.

Blue House with another lead idea update

I was thinking the same thing...thus I've since tried laying down some licks there. I'm not too sure I'm satisfied with this take, but it's my first salvageable attempt so far.

Thanks, that's quite a compliment. I'll find myself wanting to play along when I'm mixing. I can only resist for so long. As Zeppelin put it, I'm "heed(ing) the master's call". I play an SG btw, your new model of choice, 'cept mine's an Epi.

my girlfriends brother hates me, as any big brother would hate their little sister's boyfriend. and he plays an epiphone sg, I can't wait to see the reaction on his face when he sees that I've got a gibson. :D

If I was that worried about it, I wouldn't share the audio. I'm just in it for the grins, and if my stuff can bring you some, go for it. :D
But no, actually I don't have tabs already written out...I'd suggest try learning some riffs by ear 1st anyway. This thread ain't titled 'simple rock' for nothin, as most of this song just alternates between Em and C in various octaves. But all of the lead stuff was just improv-ed, so I don't even know how to re-play some of that note for note yet, yet most of it's pentatonic licks. Maybe if you want a particular rythym passage tabbed out, e-mail me or just say so here and I'll work it out.
Here's the intro lick anyways, 0:01-0:05
E-----------------------------------------------------------------------
B---------------------------------------------------10-0-8\---------
G----9--11--(0)---------7--9~~~-------9--11--(0)---------------------
D-----------------------------------------------------------------------
A-----------------------------------------------------------------------
E-0-----------------0-------------0-------------------------------------

() = ghost note
~~~ = vibrato
\ = slide down
Sounds pretty.
I actually love the sound of the rythm guitars, I like the song.
