ok, I have been playing now for about two years, I would say im doing okay so far but I am kind of stuck. I have pretty muched stopped lessons for the summer except for a few when I go to my dads, and I feel I am at a point where I can improve my playing a lot. I keep doing the same thing over and over again and I dont know where to go with it next. As far as soling goes I mess around with the pentatonic scale and I can kind of do some cool stuff there but I just keep doing it over and over and I want to get my ability better so that I can really shred, and I dont really know what do next to improve my technique, I practice a lot and I keep learning new songs and stuff, any help would be appreciated, thanks

start learning as many scales as you can. start working with modes and the scale patterns of all the modes. start playing some 3note per strings scales, this will get your speed up.

Also, just look on the guitartricks site for any lessons in anything in which you know you are week.
do you use a metronome when you practice? if not, start using one!

Well, thats what we like to call a plateau... sometime you're just simply going to get stuck. But the important thing is to just keep on trying to learn new stuff, and don't stop practicing.

I'd also suggest finding some new bands that you've never heard of. Try a different genre of music. Think of a style that has a sort of essence or emphasis that you admire that's not typically in your tastes. Find new inspiration, something you didn't know was out there. There are a lot of guitarists that are frequently mentioned here but that's still just the tip of the iceberg. There's so much music out there and to not enjoy as much of it as you can just seems like a waste to me. What it all boils down to is find something you didn't know, learn something. Read, browse, look for things and don't stop until you move up. And don't worry, we all hit that "all my stuff sounds the same anymore" level and it's times like that that really test our dedication. Keep it up and you'll be fine. Or you could always try finding someone to jam with. As of lately I've been jamming with some dude and the ideas he's been unlocking to me have been quite abundant. A teacher is good to practice with, but it doesn't hurt to have someone to play with as well.

Play guitar long enough and you're bound to hit a rut. We've all been there bro, it's just part of the territory. What worked for me last time I was in one was to focus in on a technique I always wanted to learn and see what developed from there. In my case, I tried sweep picking. I'm still not the best at it, but find I can bust out three and four string sweeps pretty cleanly now. Also try downloading a few backing tracks and just do some improvising to keep things fun. Good luck man!
Blues is easy to play, but hard to feel.
