Hello all,

Lately I have been trying to churn out some guitar in the ol' Spaghetti Western style. However, I am not totally satisfied with my sound. I've fooled around with different effect pedal and guitar settings (e.g., pick-up selector) and haven't really gotten the sound I want. Do any of you have suggestions how to really nail down that sound. The following clip is sort of what I am going for: Avalanche

Thanks for any suggestions!

Greg :)

Try this;
1-use the bridge pup ,preferably a single coil, ideally a Tele
2-pick waaayyyy back by the saddles
3- crank up the ol' reverb
4-hang out around the lower strings,especially on the first three or four frets ( the heavier the strings the better btw)
5-crank up the treble and bass, pull the mids back a wee bit.
6- pick through a few minor scale licks using the lower 3 strings,remember...open strings are our friends!!!

Puhsgetti Western stuff isn't all that different from Surf music really, same ingredients ( in alot of cases the same Hollywood session players too!!!). Hey man.....try it all....play it ALL!!!!! It's only music!!!

Also, in that clip, the guitar is playing the notes an octave apart. So either it was double tracked, or the guy was using a 12 string.

Played it near the bridge on two tracks an octave apart.
