I found the link at the bottom of the guitar tricks web page:

http://www.guitartips.com.au/index.htm

Does anyone here have an account there? Does it really help that much? I'm thinking about getting one but I'm very skeptical.

I'm a 'guitar newbie' and bought it a couple of weeks ago. Now, with just my limited experience, I think you would be better off buying a couple of Hal Leonard books to match your particular interests.

Also there's so much free stuff on the Net, I think I should have put my money to better use.

I haven't spent any money on learning materials at all (except for recently when I wanted to delve into music theory) and I've been playing about 10 months now. using only the internet to learn. and nowadays everybody tells me that I'm a good guitarist, so, I say save your money and check out these sites:

http://www.guitarforbeginners.com/ - good website for beginners
http://www.blackbeltguitar.com/ - lessons
http://www.guitartips.com.au/ - sign up for the newsletter
http://www.guitarnoise.com/ - guitar lessons
http://www.guitarlessonworld.com/ - guitar lessons and excersises
http://www.betterguitar.com/ - lessons, and also information about equipment
http://www.guitarprinciples.com/ - guitar technique, just sign up for the newsletter, and browse the free stuff that they have
http://www.prolobe.com/ - online ear training, you need to sign up, but it's free
http://www.musictheory.net/ - music theory
http://www.looknohands.com/ - good way to learn chords and scales
http://www.riffinteractive.com/ - best website for learning the basics, but, you need to buy the cd's, however, you can just open up the sample, play the music or videos until it says you aren't allowed to any more in the sample, close the window, and open it again, and look at the next videos or files, continue till you've gotten the whole lesson
also, be sure to look around this site

Sign says learn, not master. So in theory it's correct because you're learning in a span of 30 days, but that really doesn't mean anything beyond the play on rhetorics that it is. I say save the money and buy some books instead.

Here are some cool lessons from a guy named Marc Seal. He is an accomplished player, and has cd lessons available to buy as well. He also hosts a great forum site.
http://www.marcseal.com/forum

The limk below will take you to several lessons that were put together in a live webcast type of format.

If you are into Van Halen, there is an awesome lesson site, which includes generic lessons, as well as in depth lessons on EVH songs. Most of this material is intermediate to advanced.
