depends what you want to do with it..... put it on your heado? :D

Clap it around the neck of your guitar between frets to change pitch...

You clamp it onto the neck of your guitar. It barres the fret that you want so that when you play an open string, instead of playing the open note of the string it plays the note that the capo has barred. It can make some songs easier to play. They're pretty fun to play around with. They're mostly used for strumming chords and rythym type stuff...

ok, i kno how to put it on and stuff and how to play w/ it, but i was tryin to play wonderwall by oasis, and my friend said i should use a capo, i was ok, but some chords there will be like one string that is suppose to be open, but if the capo is down on the second fret its not open, obviously and doesn't sound rite...am i missin something or do u just leave it?
i've never used a capo so i have no clue

Leave it dude... Wonderwall does use a capo on the 2nd fret as I recall. Open strings are at fret 2 with the capo on - play it exactly the same as you were open.....

5 5 5 5
5 5 5 5
2 2 4 2
4 2 3 4
4 4 x x
2 5 x x

Something like that anyway... it's a bit early :D Had to edit as spelling was shocking.... told you it was early

Capo on 2nd fret on 1-5 leaving 6 string open. That gives an 'open D' sound. Clamp from underneath. There are 'open D' capos on the market, you clamp from the top and it has a cut out for the 6th string.
And it ain't just for strumming. I fingerpick all the time using capo all over the neck. It adds sound like barring can't AND you don't kill your wrist (especially if arthritic) with barring every chord.

Yeah, I'm here pretty much to uselessly agree with others. Though I hardly use mine, when I do I never regret the purchase.
