whenever I step on my overdrive SD-2 powered by my Boss PSM-5(power supply and masterswitch) it creates unwanted humms and buzzes....unwanted irritating noise is always there in my amp speaker...

I resolved that problem by using a boss ns-2 as a replacement for the PSM-5...

Take note:

I am using a generic adaptor with the same power supplies...Boss NS-2 and Boss PSM-5.

Will it help me eliminate the noise with my PSM-5 if I use a genuine Boss PSA adaptor with it? Do I really need to buy that adaptor to eliminate the noise?
HELP!

I really dont beleive the adapter will matter. Your problem is seen with and without adapters issues.
WWSD? What would stevie do?

It's probably your guitar causing the noise. What pickups you using? If they are crappy cheap ones you can be guaranteed buzzing noises, if they are a good set then maybe you don't have them earthed properly. Do a search online for installing humbuckers and single coils, there should be diagrams that will show how it should be done. I had that problem on an old Charvel I had, went away when I upgraded the pickups. The other potential problem would be if you have a lot of electrical equipment in the room you are playing in, or are sitting too close to the amp or especially if you have a tv or computer with an old style moniter turned on close by. The photons spilling out from the display cause havoc with electrical pickups and become amplified through distortion and overdrive. Check these first before you look at your pedals/stomp boxes - those things are usually pretty reliable.

If you're looking into power supplies... I would suggest going all out and get a DC Brick. It's an all in one adapter... it allows you to plug all your pedals and stuff into one source. I don't know all the specifics... but it might be worth it becuase Boss power supplies aren't cheap.
