Hi Yann,

I use "Drumkit From Hell" with Battery through Cubase SX. Basically, I program the drums through the midi function on Cubase using the Battery drum map from Drum Kit From Hell.

The package is great, it's basically a huge library of every drum in a Sonor kit sampled at different velocities. I spent a fair bit of time getting some of the beats together but plan on changing a lot of them, the only problem is that it takes so long. I have a few cd's with a live drummer too but I find it a lot easier to write music at home in my own studio without having to rely on someone else. I have to say, it can be a lot easier using a real drummer though!

There are a lot of packages out there, some more basic. I prefer the midi programmable ones because you can tweek the beats at a later stage (unlike sampled loops) and make your own unique rythms. Another package I am thing of buying at the moment is Stormdrum by Quantum Leap. It looks really good. If you are looking to start making stuff at home I can give you a few tips if you want, there are cheaper options out there for getting started on.

Later,

D

Hi again Dave,

Yes that would be fantastic if you could give me some tips on home recording. After listening to your songs, I was kind of motivated to record my own stuff!! Give me some hints please!! BTW i have a software called Fruity Loops but I do not know much about it!!

Super - your drums sound ok, but the snare gets pretty repetitive. I feel the pain - it takes a lot of time to work in the variations to a drum track to give it a human pulse. After all, were guitarists. They should make a program that will take care of that stuff for us. But, that would make drummers obsolete...........please don't forward this to drumtricks.com

It's less noticable on FleshEaters (which I like). Everything comes on pretty strong and the snare "consistency" doesn't really show until later in the set. Did you have to play with the levels or tweek it much?
I think your application of trills intermixed with arpeggios is pretty slick on this one. Good clarity across the strings. Makes me want to order up a raw 20 oz T-bone and a 36-24-36 strip. Yeah!
I once thought a "Sweeping Arpeggio" was an Italian janitor.

Fastelvis, thanks for the comments man, I know what you mean about having to program your own drums... it takes so long and its not enjoyable at all (unlike setting the fretboard on fire;-)

Yann,
Havent had a chance to email you but I'm agoing to post in the recording setion asking what set ups guys use as it will probably give everyone a few ideas. PS I just uploaded a new track called "Beyond Our Universe", let me know what you think. (the link is posted in the Listening Post section of the forum)
