Tomorrow morning, sometime between 4am-8am CST, we will power off the server and add some new hardware. The process will take one hour, somewhere in that four hour period.

We are upgrading the CPU and RAM, so hopefully we will notice a slight speed increase after the upgrades are done.

If you happen to be on the site tomorrow morning, you will suddenly not be able to get to the site anymore, and this condition will last for an hour.

What kind of server are you hosting GT on?What are the specs and what will be the specs after upgrades(if you monitor such things)?

Didn't know you host the site yourself.
Speaking of which, what is better, hosting it yourself vs. going to pro host people? The pros and cons of both? Value for money? Security? Blah blah blah. An opinion on such matters from someone speaking from a point of information is always welcome with me! You can email me if you feel like it.

EDIT:
I did notive it was going better, but assumed my internet connection wasn't acting up.

It is a linux server, with a 3GHZ AMD processor and 1GB RAM (both used to be half that yesterday).

It is externally hosted. This is much better than me doing it here, they can replace parts in 1 hour day or night. In fact, they had to replace a heat sink or something this morning.

Oh geez.

heh,"heatsink" might sound like a big deal, but its just a piece of metal(preferably copper)connected to a fan...the metal wicks away heat from the processor and the fan disperses it.Most heatsinks are about the size of a fist and they simply clip on(to the cpu).

hmmm...I wonder how much it would be to build a super server(like huge storage, ram, dual opterons e.c.t).Now that would be a fun contribution.
